Child Online Protection
Protecting children online is a global challenge, which requires a global approach. While many efforts to improve child online protection are already under way, their reach has been more national than global.
Following a successful and first Pacific Island Capacity Building Workshop on Child Online Protection (COP) and the National Cybersecurity Framework from 22-26 September 2014, the ITU has compiled an outcome report outlining key highlights of the event. Click here to view the report.
The workshop attracted almost 100 participants, including delegates from the Pacific Island States. It comprised of policymakers, business leaders and representatives from civil society, who were able to share information and define a way forward to consolidate the activities towards a regional framework for cooperation on COP.
A letter of acknowledgement and thanks from the ITU to Telecommunications Radiocommunications and Broadcasting Regulator (TRBR) for the successful organization of the First Pacific Islands Capacity Building Workshop on Child Online Protection, as well as the outcome report of the workshop, can be viewed here.

Vanuatu is experiencing tides of dramatic change associated with the spread and use of information and communication technologies (ICT). ICT offers unprecedented opportunities for economic growth and social development for small developing countries including Vanuatu.
The Internet has changed the way people work, learn, play and communicate. Children and young people today live in an information society that offers, with just click of a mouse away, an instant digital world where an unprecedented level of services and information is accessible on the internet through a computer or a mobile device.
For the first time in Vanuatu and in this region, an attempt is being planned to educate, create and provide an overall framework for stakeholders related to COP education, statistical analysis or indicators related to measuring COP and developing an appropriate way forward.
