It is critical and essential for the Broadcasting and Media industry to be operating and regulated fairly, effectively and impartially, and for it to continue to drive and maintain sustainable market competition in Vanuatu, and also importantly to keep state of the market competition environment sustainable, attractive, healthy and orderly at all times.
Therefore, the Telecommunications and Radiocommunications Regulations (TRR) Act No. 30 of 2009 was amended by the Act of Parliament No 22 of 2018 to include Broadcasting.
Effective as of 27 August 2018, the TRR will now become responsible for providing the regulatory functions of the Broadcasting Industry in Vanuatu.
The amended Act now is referred to as the Telecommunications, Radiocommunications and Broadcasting Act of 2018.
With the inclusion of this role, the Telecommunications, Radiocommunications and Broadcasting Regulatory or TRBR will be undertaking consultations with key stakeholders in the industry regarding the review of the current regulatory framework and broadcasting and media licences.
