ICT Programs under UAP
A tripartite Undertaking between the Australia – Vanuatu Governance for Growth Program (GfG) the Office of the Government Chief Officer (OGCIO) and the Telecommunications Radiocommunications and Broadcasting Regulator (TRBR) to implement and fund programs under the Universal Access Policy Fund (UAP Fund) was signed on the 15th of January 2014 by the Director of the Australia – Vanuatu GfG Program, Mr. Matthew Harding, the Government Chief Information Officer, Mr. Fred Samuel and the TRBR, Mr. Ronald Box.
• The Rensarie Community was fortunate to be a recipient of a UAP Broadband Pilot Project under the UAP Fund. The Government, through , TRBR, piloted Broadband Internet Access in at the Rensarie Telecentre, where it also provides such services to Rensarie College and Rensarie Health Centre, through a wireless link. The project began in 2011 and was completed at the end of November 2013.
• TRBR is working close with the Government through the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) and Governance for Growth (GfG) as the donor funder, on various other universal service projects that will be funded from the UAP Fund. Current projects include connecting some schools (internet), providing tablets for some schools and establishment of some rural internet cafes. The detail of these programs will be published once finalized.
