Community Awareness
One of the regulatory priority deliverables for Consumer Protection and other relations activities this year 2018 is to improve the effectiveness of Telecommunications Radiocommunications and Broadcasting Regulator (TRBR)’s Community Consumer champions (CCC) programs and increase consumer knowledge and awareness of industry market products and information throughout the rural communities of the country.
The awareness visit was planned by the TRBR Consumer team to visit the sites in Tafea Outer island from 15th – 28Th September 2018. The team conducted awareness on the islands of Aneityum, Erromango, Futuna and Aniwa. It is also an important opportunity to track the network coverage performances in each islands for TRBR’s analysis and future decision making with regards to the improvements of the quality of telecom services that will contribute to positively boost business opportunities in each island where there is access to Telecommunications services.
A total of six schools and ten communities were visited and about an estimations of 1000 + audience including adults and school children’s participated in the awareness and educational talk. Below are the list of those schools and communities that the Consumer Team conducted the Community Awareness in.
- Teruja Bilingual Junior secondary School, Anelgauhat, south Aneityum, Tafea Province on the 16th September 2018
- Anelgauhat English Primary School, Anelgauhat, south Aneityum, Tafea Province on the 16th September 2018
- Anelgauhat and Port Patrick Community, south Aneityum, Tafea Province on the 16th September 2018 by the Consumer Team and its Community Consumer Champions for the Tafea Outer Island.
- Ipota Junior Secondary school, Ipota Village, North Erromango, Tafea Province on the 18th September 2018
- Ipota community, North Erromango, Tafea Province on the 18th September 2018
- Shipyobu community, North East Erromango, Tafea Province on the 19th September 2018
- Cooks Bay community, North East Erromango, Tafea Province on the 21th September 2018 by the Consumer Team and its Community Consumer Champions for the Tafea Outer Island.
- Mission Bay Community, North Futuna, Tafea Province on the 24th September 2018
- Ikaukau Community, North Aniwa, Tafea Province on the 27th September 2018.
- Isavai Community, south Aniwa, Tafea Province on the 28th September 2018
- Pot Narvin English Primary school and community, North East Erromango, Tafea Province on the 20th September 2018
- Irumori English Primary school, Central Aniwa, Tafea Province on the 27th September 2018
- Tuta Fanuariki Memorial school Primary and junior secondary school and the Iasoa Community, North Futuna, Tafea Province on the 23th September 2018
