On the 3rd November the stakeholders involved in the Telecommunications Sector gathered together at the Offices of the Telecommunications and Radiocommunications Regulator (TRR). The objective of the meeting was to review the work which had been completed throughout the year and set out some of the key work items for the coming year.
Alan Horne, the Regulator opened by praising the industry for their investments which has created a highly competitive market for mobile services giving the consumer choice and lower prices. The challenge is now to repeat that success in the provision of internet.
He concluded the presentation by thanking the TRR team who had developed strongly throughout the year making TRR a capable Regulator.

On the 30th of July 2011 (Independence Anniversary Day) TRR received an email from Mr. Loulou Manwo, a science teacher for Rensarie College. The email subjected“WEKAP” and read “Morning, wanem nao step long development? Mifalla i stap wet?” is a follow up on Internet access to the school and the community around Rensarie College

TRR has released a Draft National Numbering Plan and Procedures for Public Consultation until 30 January 2012. This Draft National Numbering Plan and Procedures has been produced to inform all stakeholders about the management, administration, and governance of the National Numbering Plan of Vanuatu by the Regulator as outlined in the Telecommunications and Radiocommunications Regulation Act No. 30 of 2009, and pursuant to all Telecommunications Licences issued to all service providers. Telecommunications Licensees and interested parties are invited to submit comments on the document.
Closing date for comments was Monday 30 January 2012, 4:00 pm.
